Man beaten, struck by car
A 43-year-old man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston Friday night, after being beaten and subsequently run over by a car as he lay in the street.
According to police, at approximately 10:30 pm on Friday night, witnesses reported a disturbance on the 1300 block of West Estes. They observed three males and one female in an altercation with the victim.
Witnesses told police the offenders repeatedly struck the victim's head against the steel garbage dumpster. They then observed a car traveling eastbound on Estes at a high rate of speed, run over the victim who was lying in the street. The vehicle, a white or gray Oldsmobile with a male driver, did not stop.
The hit-and run appeared unconnected to the beating as the offenders were still on the scene.
The victim was listed in critical condition on Sunday.
