Ken Williams may already have an eye on his next move, but here are five
things I am still wondering after the acquisition of outfielder
Nick Swisher.
1. What else could the
Gonzalez-De Los Santos-Sweeney package have brought back? Carl
Crawford? Alex Rios? Dan Haren? Erik Bedard?
2. What is more important to the short-term and long-term well being and success of this team: avoiding big market free agent contracts that may be outwardly "overpriced" or amassing prized prospects?
3. For 2008 only, would the Sox have been better off biting the bullet salary-wise, signing Torii Hunter, Aaron Rowand or Andruw Jones and using their top prospects to shore up the team elsewhere?
4. Are Lance Broadway, Jack Egbert, Charlie Haeger, Nick Masset and Andy Sisco in any position to take the 5th starter spot in case of injury or ineffectiveness?
5. Can Nick Swisher play an above-average centerfield defensively?

I wouldn't mind seeing Paul Konerko being dealt to bring in prospects, putting Swisher at first, and trading for Chris Duffy.

This is old-ish news. I meant to have this up last week, but somehow it didn't get posted until today. Like Scotty Pods' DFA-ing, better late than never, right??
