A faulty underground power cable caused a flash fire that left 201 Pilsen residents briefly without power Tuesday morning, power company officials said.
The fire began at 7:38 a.m. at a Commonwealth Edison substation at Cermak Road and Throop Street.
Power was restored by 8:30 a.m., according to Joe Trost, a Commonwealth Edison spokesman.
Trost said the cause of the problem is still under investigation.
There were no injuries, Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez said.
