I knew that would work.
Back off, Brewers, the Cubs
have proved they can take care of your pair of aces. That, or the
bats are getting hot at
the perfect time. Either way you look at it, one thing's for sure:
it's time to go on a tear.
A three-game winning streak
with three really solid wins is always the point in which you
either go on a substantial roll or you can fall back into baseball
anonymity. Not that a first place team ever leaves the spotlight,
but that prestigious "hottest team in baseball" label is out of
reach. With the next couple weeks loaded with NL Central rivals,
getting hot will make things easier in a much more challenging
September. I hope that Florida game becomes monumental after all.
Let's go big blue train.
Nothing is more overdue than
a Cubs' winning streak. To put it simply, right now the Cubs are 19
games over .500. They have yet to break 20 games over
.500 and have had 4 opportunities to do so since June 14.
That's over a month of some seriously average
baseball.
Yesterday's game was awesome.
Awesome enough that myself and everyone at the minor league game at
Wrigley last night were watching the TV monitors instead of the
teams on the field we paid to see. Everyone contributed and
Carlos Zambrano had some of his best command of
the season. I can't remember the last time I checked a box score to
see everyone with a hit. I couldn't believe that sixth inning. Good
stuff.
There's not much else to say,
it's just time to watch more baseball. When your team plays a game
like last night, you should take a day to just enjoy it and not
think about any other concerns. The ghosts of pessimism that
haunted me last weekend have taken the week off so far and I just
hope they stay away.
