Some state lawmakers say the on-again, off-again expansion of gambling in Illinois could become a reality, possibly even during this session.
The state House passed a bill last year that would allow new casinos in Chicago and other locations, as well as slot machines at race tracks and airports. But the Senate hasn't acted and Gov. Quinn hasn't supported the measure.
Gambling proponents say they could send the existing bill to Quinn, who would veto it, giving them the opportunity for an override vote, Or they could try their hand at a new bill in hopes of appeasing Quinn, WBEZ reports.
