Choose Chicago has commissioned a new theme song to encourage visitors to our fair city.
It features Buddy Guy, Chicago the band, and lyrics by Umphrey’s McGee, and it's basically the musical equivalent of Navy Pier: Insipid and annoying.
Sample lyric: "I love it in Chicag-oooooh-oooooh-oooooooh. See you in Chicag-oooooh-oooooh-oooooooh."
As the A.V. Club notes:
Even the bands were a dumb choice to begin with. Chicago has infinitely better music than these three acts, period. If this song brings us the kinds of tourists who listen to this kind of music and enjoy it, then we shudder to think what that means for our summer.
