Jock Justice? Not This Time.

The time has come for Tank Johnson to pay for his mistakes. The Cook County court system has sentenced Johnson to serve four months in jail and pay a $2,500 dollar fine for violating his probation by stashing an arsenal in his children’s playpen.

Tank Johnson has made a couple of significant errors in judgment in his 25 years on this planet, and now he is finally paying for his mistakes in a significant way. Often times, professional athletes get away with murder, and when the Tank was allowed to roll to the Super Bowl in Miami, it appeared to be yet another case of jock justice. If Tank Johnson were a chef, I highly doubt that a judge would have let him compete in a world class cook-off after the grave mistakes that he has made.

Perhaps now that Tank Johnson knows that he can’t get away with murder, he won’t have the need to keep all of those shotguns in his Pack-n-Play. Maybe these 120 days will be the wakeup call that Johnson needs… or maybe Johnson is just another shaky, crumbling piece of the Bears suddenly uncertain defensive unit.
