No Deal

Well, Lance Briggs is going to remain a member of the Chicago Bears… for now.  It seems that two fundamental football truths helped put the breaks on the speculated deal that had Briggs headed to the Washington Redskins. 

1-     The Chicago Bears are a frugal franchise.  While they don’t want to let Briggs go for nothing, Jerry Angelo and the Bears are also extremely cautious in the face of the dollars that a #6 pick in the NFL draft would command.  The Bears still may deal Briggs, but it will only happen on their terms.

2-     Drew Rosenhaus is a boob.  Apparently Rosenhaus turned off the majority of suitors at last week’s NFL owners meetings when he paraded Briggs around and shopped him to anyone with a big checkbook.  People listened to the Rosenhaus and Briggs show… and they didn’t like what they heard.  At this point, Drew Rosenhaus and Lance Briggs are perfect for one another, and it’s easy to see why no one is very happy with either one of them.
