Deidra Lewis, a 32-year veteran of the City Colleges of Chicago who retired last year, is to be named the district's interim chancellor shortly.
Lewis is listed on an item in the Board of Trustees' packet. The page does not say how long she will serve or how much money she will earn.
It notes, "Ms. Lewis has demonstrated the dedication, experience and manageral skill necessary to lead the District as its Chief Administrative Officer."
Lewis' name first emerged as a front-runner to be the City Colleges chancellor last week. However, there has been no public process, and it remains unclear why Lewis' selection is only an interim one.
Outgoing chancellor Wayne Watson announced almost a year ago that he would step down.
