Father charged in death of infant

A South Side man was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday in connection with the death of his month-old daughter, who  police say died of head injuries caused by shaking.

Quinten Fisher, 28, of 5854 S. Fairfield Ave., is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on the charges today.

Police say Fisher brought his daughter, Lydia Houston, to Holy Cross Hospital shortly after midnight on New Year's Eve. She was transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital where she died around 11:20 a.m.

Autopsy reports indicate that Houston died of brain injuries resulting from a blunt head trauma.

Chicago Police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak said Fisher is accused of slamming and shaking the infant repeatedly.
