A mother of two was shot to death while walking to her car after a wedding reception early Saturday morning, police said.

Margaret Lee, 41 of the 8100 block of South Honore Avenue, was shot multiple times as she walked in the 3900 block of South Prairie Avenue around 1 a.m., Chicago Police spokesman John Mirabelli said.

Witnesses who heard gunshots and saw a white vehicle speed away found Lee lying on the ground near her car, Mirabelli said. She was taken to Stroger hospital where she later died.

Mirabelli said police are still investigating the crime.

Lee is survived by her husband, Chicago firefighter LeFondra Martin Lee,  a 22-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter, Mirabelli said.
