Police have charged a suspect in connection with a home invasion Friday in which a 6-year-old boy was shot in the head.
Karl Smith, 30, of the 4600 block of North Harding Avenue, was charged Sunday with one count of aggravated battery to a child; one count of armed home invasion; and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 10:12 a.m.,
according to a Chicago police spokesman.
Upon arrival, they discovered a child who had been shot in the head. Two adults were also injured. One man had been shot in the shoulder and stabbed and a second man had been beaten, police said.
The adult shooting victim and the child were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said today that both victims are in stable condition.
