A man returning home from grocery shopping Sunday evening was able to fend off a would-be robber by yelling, police said.

The robber approached and demanded money as the victim returned to his home in the 5200 block of North Kenmore Avenue, according to a police report.

After a brief struggle over his wallet, the victim began yelling and his attacker ran off empty-handed.

The attacker was described as a black man in his mid-30s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds.
