Hayes Robinson, an Alzheimers patient missing from a West Side
hospital since July 27th, turned up in good condition and was reunited with his family, police announced today.
Robinson, 76, walked six miles due south from Sacred Heart Hospital
at 3240 W. Franklin Blvd. before police found him yesterday on the 4600 block of
South Spaulding Avenue.
"I'm sure he walked," said Sgt. Jeff Peraino of the Special Victims
Unit, which handles all missing persons cases. "They tend to do
that. They walk and walk and walk, and when they get tired they
sit down."
Police received a call from a person who saw Robinson sitting on a bench and
became concerned about him.
A squad car picked him up,
"and the rest, as they say, is history," said Peraino.
