Police seize guns, pot from house

Chicago police on Wednesday confiscated $250,000 worth of marijuana from a home on the West Side.
Police arrested Ramon Gomez, 34, and Felipe Cortez, 36, of 1809 N. Leclaire Ave. around 10:30 a.m. at home. Officers said they also found a loaded AK-47 assault rifle and a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun there.
Gomez was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana, a class X felony, possession of firearms and possessing firearms without a valid firearms owner identification card. Cortez was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of more than 5,000 gra

Police staked out the home after neighbors complained about drug sales. A judge issued a search warrant based on surveillance evidence.
With the help of drug-sniffing dogs, officers found multiple caches of marijuana weighing a total of 107 pounds, according to a police news release.
Police said Gomez was found in bed with the guns tucked under the mattress. Both men surrendered without incident.
