Resurrection Healthcare, which operates eight area hospitals and a number of other health care facilities, eliminated 125 management positions yesterday, according to spokesman Brian Crawford.

The cuts include terminating 81 employees and eliminating 44 vacant positions.

"None of these people provided patient care," says Crawford.

Resurrection, which is sponsored by two Catholic religious orders, has about 14,000 employees.

"In comparison to what other places are doing, this is pretty small," says Crawford.
