Rogers Park fire injures one

An early morning fire at a North Sheridan Road apartment building sent one man to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Firefighters responded to the a call at 6708 North Sheridan at 7:30 a.m., says Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado. The blaze started in a ninth-floor apartment and forced emergency workers to evacuate some residents.

The sole victim, a male resident of the building, was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

Firefighters extinguished the flames within 10 minutes. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
