Police say increased patrols in Buena Park near the lakefront have led to a drop in burglaries and car break-ins.

Speaking at the monthly community policing meetings for beats 2323 and 2324 last night, officers said patrols between Addison and Montrose near North Marine Drive had significantly decreased those types of crimes, though not to their all-time lows.

Officers are also asking residents to be on the alert for purse snatchers.

Shortly before last night's meeting, robbers stole a woman's purse near Wilson Avenue. Police said they've seen an increase in such crimes in the area, primarily in the dusk and evening hours. The assailants, who often work in teams, have been targeting both men and women.

The next CAPS meeting for beats 2323 and 2324 is March 19th.
