A gunman killed one person and wounded another near the corner of Kedzie and Lake this morning, police said.

Tiffany Thurston, a landscaper at the Chicago Christian Industrial League, said the victims were shot while sitting in a car outside her building.

She said the gunman approached on foot and shot the passenger in the upper body. The driver exited the car and began running across the empty lot towards Kedzie when the gunman shot him in both legs.

"I heard six shots," she said.

The driver "lay there until the ambulance came," said Thurston.

The passenger drove himself to the police station at Harrison and Kedzie and later died, said Sgt. Robert Arteaga of the Chicago Police Department.

He said the victims had not yet been positively identified. Police are looking for the gunman.
