Woman shot by unknown gunman

A 35-year-old woman was shot by an unknown gunman Thursday afternoon in the 8100 block of Escanaba Avenue, Chicago police said.

The woman, who was not identified, was transported to Christ Hospital with a gunshot wound to her right arm and was listed in stable condition Friday, spokesman Marcel Bright said.

The victim told police she heard several shots before falling and discovering she had been hit. The incident occurred at  5:11 p.m., police said.

The gunman is described as between 18 and 22 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black shoes, and a black hooded sweatshirt.
