The news this week is out of Denver. Forget Georgia and forget Beijing. First, sorry to Greg Tejeda of the Chicago Argus. He realized too late that he didn't want to go to Denver and the Twin Cities to cover the major parties political conventions, and that his readers forgot to send him money to go too!
Tejeda's blog includes a lovely feature on how some of our most prominent citizens are enjoying their summer vacations at tax payer expense.
Second random Rocky Mountain thought of the week, is it just me or does it seem as though the HuffPo/ Chicago doesn't change much? I know I shouldn't criticize here as sometimes the ChiTownDailyNews seems to languish with the same format for days.
Okay, so third random Rocky Mountain thought of the week, with the Olympics over, do I really need to pay attention to this drivel? I'm sorry I shouldn't call it that. But there was some interesting news out of Denver: Democrats love Obama. Well no, it was about a meeting between top journalists and a real star, Jon Stewart. Stewart of Daily Show fame held a breakfast meeting with 20 of the top national journalists and broadcasters at the University of Denver this week. There is lots of coverage of the event although no video yet. Here is the take from Comedy Central's blogger, Dennis DeClaudio, "This morning, Jon Stewart sat in a laid-back breakfast get-together with some of the most accomplished and well-respected political journalists in print journalism and asked, 'Why do I take this more seriously than you?' To my eyes and ears, his question cast an uncomfortable cloud of uncertainty over the coterie of twenty or so men and women."
