I've always found the out-of-town football bars in Chicago to be a unique local curiousity. You won't find an Iowa bar in Miami, or a Packers bar in Denver.
Apparently the WSJ thought it was interesting, too. They ran a great feature on the college football bar culture here. It's not all rah-rah, though. The piece exposes some bar owners who have little allegiance to the schools, but fly the colors on game day to rake in some serious dough.
Says one bartender: "I just pretend to love Iowa. That's my job."
