CMW recap

And if you missed it, our co-tablers and co-sponsors, Issue Lab have all of the materials up here. Its interesting to see reporters, non-profit types, grassroots types, and do gooder PR types in the same room. Overheard some great conversations, and heard the phrase 'staying on message' almost enough times to make my head pop.

Community Media Workshop is a novel organization. They explicitly focus on connecting community organizations and organizers to the press.

We don't often talk about infrastructure when we think about community building. Its not enough to be out there organizing in our respective communities if we aren't developing the kinds of institutions that can support that work for the long haul.

Its important to build and support these resources so that social change work can survive the vicissitudes of internal politics, burnout, and the peaks and valleys that this work always experiences.

Community Media Workshop is a big part of building that infrastructure thats supporting the current generation of organizers/activists/troublemakers/do-gooders around Chicago. Let's hope they'll be here for the next.
