Cops say bomb suspect carried sword

This afternoon's bomb scare at Addison and Eddy began about 3:30 p.m. when officers saw a man walking down the street wearing camouflage and carrying a sword, according to police.

Officers stopped the man, frisked him and found something that appeared to be a pipe bomb.

They called the department's bomb squad and blocked off traffic on Laramie between Addison and Eddy.

An officer on the scene said the man, who speaks Polish, wanted to kill his boss. It was not immediately clear where he worked, or where he was headed when officers stopped him.

The bomb was a fake.

Police say the man will likely be charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
