The Dude Abides: Kyle Orton as the Big Lebowski

Not only is Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Kyle Orton’s favorite movie “The Big Lebowski”, but his nickname amongst teammates and friends is actually “The Dude”. To further the status of this nomenclature, I have decided to point out five similarities in Kyle Orton and the laid back protagonist of the 1998 Coen brother’s classic film.

1) In the movie “The Big Lebowski” The Dude is attacked by a ferret (referred to as a marmot) thrown at him by nihilists – Kyle Orton apparently had a similar creature thrown at him which has now clamped on to his jaw and...more

Are you a Grabowski?

The week following the loss to the Steelers has been a tough week for Bears fans; not only did we suffer our first loss in a couple of months, but another Vikings victory trimmed our lead in the North to just one game. The Bears also cut designated punt-muffer Bobby Wade this week, and with a potential QB controversy still brewing, it would seem that a touch of negativity is finally hanging over our Chicago Bears in 2005.

You Make the Call...

The Chicago Bears currently reside on the doorstep of the playoffs in the NFC, despite the fact that Kyle Orton can’t hit the side of a house with a forward pass. After throwing for 68 yards on Sunday, Orton’s passer rating dipped to an NFC worst 60.2, and many Chicago sports writers and fans alike are clamoring for a QB change. Yes, Kyle Orton has already started more games in his rookie season than Grossman has during his entire career, and he is winning, but how long can the Bears winning ways continue without a real offense?

With...more
