The Chicago City Council gives its approval to a controversial plan by the Chicago Children's Museum to build a new facility in Grant Park. Opponents, however, are not giving up the fight.
Despite vigorous opposition from neighbors and community members, the city's zoning panel sends the Children's Museum proposal on to the city council, approving its move to Grant Park by a vote of 6-3.
A vote on the Children's Museum's proposed move to Grant Park was postponed today. The chair of the zoning committee says too few aldermen were present to decide the issue fairly.

Chicago residents packed a plan commission meeting Thursday for a nine-hour debate on a controversial plan to allow the Chicago Children's Museum to build a new facility in Grant Park.
Opponents of a plan to move the Chicago Children's Museum from Navy Pier to Grant Park say they are prepared to keep up their fight to keep the park "open, clear and free."
